Photographers Ning Kai (1987, China) and Sabrina Scarpa (1991, the Netherlands) started collaborative works in 2015. Partners in work and life, their artistic mission has become to portray the land between them.
From east to west, they seek places that bring them closer to nature to capture and convey the organic poetry and harmony they witness therein. Imbued with a deep sense of simplicity and quietness, their photographs almost speak for themselves. They immortalize their journey across the world without indications of location; instead, they explore an ethereal aesthetic perception of global wilderness and its essence. The works that they dropped along their wanderings mark their footsteps towards paradise, which allow them to blur boundaries between space, culture and time to find moments of revelation, intimacy and clarity within the natural world.
Ning and Scarpa’s works have been featured in publications such as Monthly Photography Magazine, American Chordata, La Fotografía Magazine, Photography Is Art, and on numerous websites such as GUP, Fisheye Magazine, METAL Magazine, Der Greif, Phases Magazine, IGNANT, among others. They previously collaborated with RIMOWA. In 2019, they were awarded the Barcelona International Photography Awards BIPA.
